An IT engineer put on puberty blockers as a 16-year-old girl has claimed a gender clinic failed to carry out a proper psychiatric assessment before giving them to her.
Keira Bell, 23, of Manchester, who is taking legal action against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London, suffered from gender dysphoria as a child.
She took testosterone, which left her with a deep voice and possibly infertile, and had a double mastectomy - but later realized she had 'gone down the wrong path'.

For your interest.
She won the case. It’s become pretty much impossible to prescribe “puberty blockers” to under 16’s and very difficult even at 16 or 17 in England.
I completely agree, but a part of me wants to suggest this could come to her because she took testosterone for so long...
Couldn’t see this one coming could we?
There is a good reason why these hapless souls have a sky high suicide rate. Like 30% or so. Absolutely unethical and by any reasonable standard criminal negligence by the monsters at Tavistock. And oh yes it goes on here too, at the once respectable Johns Hopkins , where it once was proscribed but has been resumed due to political pressure.
I’m curious as to what she or her medical advisors thought was evidence that she was transgender. Did she want to play boy’s sports or some other activity usually thought of as being restricted to men and boys? Did she feel more comfortable in pants or clothing that is considered masculine? Was she interested in hobbies or careers that few women pursue? Or conversely, was she disinterested or even repelled by traditionally feminine attributes, pursuits and interests? If so, why couldn’t she just continue in her path of being “gender non-conforming” without having had any medical treatment?
Girls being conflicted between traditional womanly roles and more manly roles is nothing new, and can be seen in the writing of famous women authors like Louisa May Alcott and Laura Ingalls Wilder, with the sister pairs Jo/Meg and Laura/Mary representing the two sides.
Oh no, consideration about deleterious sequelae of actions is considered “repressive”. Another victim of a “no objective reality” mind set.
Collateral damage in the war to destroy the family by obliterating the nature of human gender and sexuality.
In the 80s, the body dysphoria of the day was anorexia.
Took out Karen Carpenter.
What ever happened to anorexia? Faded with all the promotional materials, er “awareness” campaigns.
Wasn’t destructive or profitable enough, apparently.
