Removing Trump Is Not Enough. He Must Be Prosecuted.
The Nation ^ | 1 Dec, 2020 | SASHA ABRAMSKY

Inauguration Day is only seven weeks away. In “normal” times, the outgoing president and his team would at this point be facilitating a smooth transfer of power—tying up a few policy loose ends, but generally making way for the new president and acknowledging the new political priorities of that president.

None of that is happening with Donald Trump. In fact, quite the reverse........

Given how the post-election period has developed, it’s not enough to remove this man from power. His authoritarian presence on the political stage, the cancer that he represents on the American body politic, must be obliterated, leaving absolutely no possibility of a second act. For he has in this past month declared total war on American democracy. And in this struggle, there can be no middle ground.

There is a lot of talk of “healing” and “moving on,” of ignoring Trump’s myriad crimes in order to somehow nurture the greater good. But healing involves, at the very least, acknowledgment of culpability on the part of the guilty—that was, after all, the foundational principle of South Africa’s post-apartheid Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Trump is not only not admitting any culpability, but his rampage against the legal, political, and cultural pillars of American democracy is actually intensifying as his term in office draws to a close.

Without even a nod to truth, there certainly can be no reconciliation. Trump’s disgraceful, dangerous behavior, from his self-dealing while in government to his last-ditch efforts to subvert the popular will, is cratering trust in American democracy. For this, he must be made to face a legal reckoning.

I'm reading the Gulag Archipelago.

This is the type of stuff that pushed my to finally pick it up.

There's an abridged audio version. I recommend it or of course the full version. (it's one of Jordan Peterson's ... I wouldn't say favorites ... but 'most important' books to read to get inside the heads of the types of people who have made much of the history of mankind a horror show.)

In one way it's like the 'how it actually played out in real life' versions of Animal Farm and 1984.

Only preferred, compliant dupes should be allowed to hold the executive power.

Yeah, he should. I’d cheer wildly if he personally put the entire Democrat party ruling class in prison. No formal charges would be necessary for me; I’d consider their party affiliation prima facie evidence of present or future criminal activity.

For he has in this past month declared total war on American democracy.

Borrowing from the evil actions by democrats and the left-wing/fake media actions and policies of the past 4 years.

This is the media attributing to Trump exactly what democrats and the fake media have done in the last 5 years.

Yet, Trump has done more for REAL democracy than what the democrats have ever done. In fact, democrats are the enemies of democracy.

If you can make fake ballots, you can make fake evidence, which is what they’ve been doing since before Trump even took office. Trump can afford lawyers, but think what they would do with a poor nobody.

That’s the DEVIL’s old strategy since the beginning !
Must be crushed on the head and attacked right on the target or it never ends

Joe Biden must be prosecuted for his crimes in corruption going back over 40 years and put in jail for the rest of his life.
Sadly, he’ll die before he has served even 5 years in jail. Too bad

Unfortunately, there are far too many people in the USA, including some of my nieces, nephews, and cousins, who have bought into this level of hatred toward Trump.

So what Sasha writes is music to their ears.

There is no way that Trump can leave office with the idea of running again in 2024. The deep state would never allow this. They would come after him with everything they had (or everything they could make up) with prosecutions for all of his alleged “crimes”. For this reason - and many others - Trump should not leave office in January under any circumstances.

If they try and prosecute Trump or his children that should be the call to arms for all his supporters. That will mean the country is at war as far as I’m concerned

“ Maybe it’d help to know ....the 80 million Americans who voted for Trump don’t agree with any of this hate-filled rant.”

Yeah, I’m pretty sure we outnumber these ^^##^%{ by quite a lot, despite their obviously fraudulent election numbers.

The “D” armband in the cartoon is perfect. The same “D” armband might as well be worn by everyone in the mainstream media, big tech, big corporations, big banks, the FBI, CIA, DOJ. It is a one party state. Corporatism / fascism at its finest.
