Surprisingly well written piece for someone I presume is a liberal, and a near miss on the target they were aiming at. There’s a lot of mudslinging inside, but it gets close to the calculus the electorate came to:

No, we do not wish to institutionalize discrimination again in California. We’ve had enough of that. The screaming chorus which endorsed it further indicated to the electorate there was something deeply wrong going on.

But liberal ideology loves to have a victim, and therefore, it is identified as blacks. Everyone knew exactly what the intention was, kick out those pesky hard working Asians from California’s UC system so there’s room for, well, more gender studies degrees and diversity specialists. It was intentional discrimination against a minority (which would SUPPOSEDLY lead to more black enrollment.) Yeah, we all know how this story goes in California - we’ll just do a LITTLE bit of harm, but as a society we’ll be better off.

No, we never are.

David Cole is an interesting cat. I wouldn’t call him a liberal. He’s good friends with Ann Coulter, not that it necessarily means anything but that is the circle in which he used to operate.

A favor was asked by a rapidly declining population that rarely sees fit to prove worthy of those favors, and never returns them. And the favor was denied. Lord help blacks if this catches on. Next thing you know, Californians will realize they don’t have to let their shit get stolen.

Spot on. And this confirms my view that blacks are nothing more than a modern-day manifestation of the American Indians — a group of people who are largely incapable of assimilating in a modern society and therefore have no place in it.
