Mason was fired shortly thereafter.

Mason amassed a 27-55 record in six seasons at Vanderbilt. He will go down as the sixth-winningest coach in program history and only the second to make it to two bowl games.

Maybe the sixth-winningest coach in number of wins, but he's number 20 out of 28 coaches in winning percentage.

Vanderbilt is sort of breather game for the other teams in the SEC. Vandy is supposed to lose. With only an SEC schedule it is difficult for Vandy to get a win. The SEC keeps Vandy...Needs Vandy...An easy win for all the other SEC teams.
