Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s 2021 budget passed the City Council today, with her closest vote—to raise the property tax levy—squeaking through 28-22.
The revenue ordinance passed 29-21, and the spending plan passed 33-17. Each measure needed 26 votes.

Lightfoot won over a number of aldermen by striking a deal with union officials to avoid laying off hundreds of city workers, by boosting spending on violence prevention programs by $10 million and agreeing to pilot a program that would have mental health workers respond to certain emergency calls, rather than police.
In a press release, Chicago Federation of Labor President Bob Reiter thanked Lightfoot for living up to her promise of being more collaborative. "The people of this city expect solutions, and I believe that we have delivered," he said in the release.

Chicago isn’t inhabited with citizens, it’s populated by predators and prey. everyone that has the means to flee the carnage has done so.
It’s very unfortunate that she has very dark under-eye circles. And a horrible receding hairline (which could be remedied if she desired).
What is more unfortunate is that she is liberal who doesn’t care about her constituents. They are literally dying in the streets.

Polo can arrest and charge you and you then get your day in court. A mental health “professional” can commit you and you may not have much recourse.
The first lawsuit after an unarmed social worker is sent on a call & killed will be a doozy.
