As of a young kid in the 60s I saw one of his cars on a flatbed passing through my neighborhood. And we then lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, so it was a big surprise and thrill. I used to build plastic models at the time, read the Hot Rod magazines, and loved going to the long-since-terminated Rod & Custom car show at 59th Street Colosseum. They ended them, for some strange reason, years ago, I think in the 90s. Now all we have is the International Car Show, which is basically like going to a new car dealership with a few cool customs.
