I was stationed at Camp Pendleton when this song came out. They played it endlessly on KROQ-Pasadena. A fun song and that was the way even girls in Escondido/Carlsbad/Oceanside talked at the time.

I then went out to buy a Frank Zappa album and was surprised to find out that nothing else he recorded sounded even remotely like "Valley Girl."

LOL, it's not exactly "Inca Roads", is it?

I became a single dad when my girls were 4 & 1 and living in Dayton,OH.

My oldest was a “tween” when “Valley Girl” came out and did her best to “talk the talk” - esp with her friends. It was cute...and quite the adventure.

She was surprised to learn her dad once lived in Hollywood, just over the Hlywd Hills from the famous SF Valley.

Nope “Valley Girl” was nothing like my favorite, “Nanook Rubs It”.

“Like” I lived in Huntington Beach in 82’ and for 2 weeks that June I drove my X-wife up to Pasadena for a job training session and all we heard on 106.7 KROQ was the “tubular” Valley Girl!

That’s why we love him. None of his songs sound like each other. That lead bass in Valley Girl is so great though. Yeah Scott Thunes.
