I agree with this. But not because of the virus. Because politicians have tasted power over us that they've only dreamed they could have up until now. They won't give it up. There will always be another crisis that requires them to put a boot on our neck to save us.

Spot on. I'm betting that we'll see "climate change" become an "urgent public health emergency" down the road requiring all sorts of restrictions. For our own good, and the good of Mother Gaia, naturally.
