Wow you have an interesting life. I watch a documentary every year called Alone in the Wilderness, about a 51 year old man who built a cabin and lived in the Alaska wilderness for over 30 years. I am fascinated with it. His name was Dick Proenneke. It was on pbs.

Athol Orchards - Apple Cider Syrup - Cyber Monday Sale

There’s a heritage apple orchard in Athol, Idaho called “Athol Orchards.” They make the most amazing apple cider syrup which is a delightful change from good old maple syrup on your pancakes and waffles. They are located in the Idaho Panhandle region, part of the Inland Northwest.

The woman who founded and runs the company is a real apple aficionado and really knows a lot about heritage apples. She attends heritage apple conferences to perfect her craft and belongs to the heritage apple associations in the Pacific Northwest.

She started up Athol Orchards a few years ago and has done an absolutely amazing job expanding her business. She now has retail distribution in a lot of places in North Idaho and Western Washington...and has added her first retail store in Northern California!

Her mail order business is really taking off, too, and today is her Cyber Monday sale.

So I thought I’d take this opportunity to plug one of my favorite foods to my friends on FR. I have no business or family association with Athol Orchards — I just love her products and her success story! She first started selling through local Farmer’s Markets and, in a few short years, has really expanded the business.

If you want to try something wonderful, unique, and new as well as support a local woman entrepreneur, give it a try. If you’re ever in North Idaho, be sure to stop by their operation!

PS: The “Hot Apple Syrup” sounds a bit odd, but it really works. Just a slight hint of “heat” in the sweet syrup is a great combination.
