Well, I can't say that I'd characterize the change from 27,700 light-years down to 25,800 light-years as "a whole lot closer", percentage-wise. "A whole lot closer" would be, like, 15,000 or less. But hey, whatever.

I'm very glad for the correction, nevertheless, because being off by 1900 light-years is nothing to sneeze at.
