That’s why I said 5 lbs and under, as house cats have no trouble killing prey in that range, and cats are very fond of lizard hunting and snake hunting, at least mine are. Bobcats could take on mature tegu easily.

Cats are interesting critters... cute and cuddly on one side, vicious hunters on the other side.
They have cool eyes...like the David Bowie song says...”see these eyes of green...I can stare for a thousand years.”

We have feral cats in the neighborhood. We trap them and a vet fixes them for $25. He trains vet students. Anyway we let the cats wander the neighborhood. I have a couple that live at my house, probably because I feed them. Anyway, we like the cats because we do not see as many Moccasins and Crane Breaks which are common even in town. Cats take care of them and any rodents. Kind of a symbiotic relationship. A 45 pound lizard may be a bit of a problem, but we have a few big Toms that may be able to handle a good size lizard.
