My daughter is an ICU nurse. If they were approaching capacity I think I would know.
According to her they can ramp-up additional ICUs quickly if needed. Hospitals don’t maintain them constantly for economic reasons.
PA is a big place. many hospitals. some better than others. one opinion, informed and expert though I am sure it is, doesn’t provide all of the proper context.
back to the text in question: I would have had no problem if there had been a flat statement of fact; “hospital capacity is at xx%, up from xx% from last week”, or “hospital (or ICU) occupancy is up xx% in the past week”.
Or even “capacity is approaching xx% in some areas”.
once again, mass communication of accurate information is something only a fascist would argue with. don’t commit fascism in our war against fascists.
