A Queens parking spot dispute exploded into a wild road rage rampage, with one driver sucker-punching the other before crashing his car through the glass storefront of a newly-opened bakery, police said Tuesday.
An enraged Jie Zou jumped from behind the wheel of his white Audi as another vehicle angled for the coveted space, slugging the other driver in the face before ruining the grand opening of the Rainbow Bakery by plowing his vehicle six feet inside the fledgling business, cops said.
Terrifying cellphone video captured Zou making a U-turn and slamming his car into his rival, who went bouncing off the Audi’s hood as the car accelerated across four lanes of traffic and through the glass — with one terrified customer exiting through the rubble while another lies dazed on the sidewalk.
Zou’s bat-wielding passenger, Jonathan Zhang, whacked in the arm a 34-year-old man defending the other driver in the 3:55 p.m. ruckus. The rival driver, identified as Zong Li, 35, of Belford, N.J., at one point managed to wrest the bat away and smashed it against the Audi’s hood before he was nearly run down, the video shows.(snip)
Once the punching ended, cops say, Zou climbed back into his car and hit the gas, hitting Li before jumping the curb and crashing into the bakery.(snip)
“It’s just for a parking space,” said devastated bakery owner John Lo as he stood Tuesday in the wreckage. “It’s like a movie, right?”
Lo, who hopes to reopen in a month, returned to survey a business reduced to shattered glass and twisted metal. The ruined store is now shuttered with a metal grate pulled down over its front.

About 4 years ago a grand daughter drove from the east bay to the Concord area daily to attend a private school. Then, her younger brother went with her to attend a private boys school next to her school.
I drove the trip once during a commute, and I felt like I was in a grand prix race.
Both kids were up for a dinner, and my wife asked, who were the worse drivers. Without discussing it, they both said mothers driving Audi SUV’s with kids in the vehicle.
Those wacky Orientals — ya’ never know what they’ll do!
Who hasn’t wanted to do this at one time or another ;-)
“Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we've had a saying for decades: "DWA." Most of you know that that means.
I saw a bumper sticker a couple years ago: "Caution: Asian Woman Driver"
And after Zou exited the vehicle inside the bakery, he screamed at the store owner, “I park where I want to park!!!”
DANG!
“Law&Crime reached out to the New York Police Department for more information. We were told the incident happened Monday at about 2:03 p.m.
There was an argument over a parking spot, which resulted in a white Audi colliding with the front of 41-39 Kissena Boulevard.
Two arrests were made. Queens man Jonathan Zhang, 35, is charged with assault. He allegedly hit his 34-year-old male victim in the left arm using a baseball bat.
Jie Zou, 24, allegedly punched his 35-year-old male victim in the face and struck the victim with the vehicle, which slammed into the storefront.
To be very clear, police did not name the 34-year-old or 35-year-old male victims. Cops did say that three women were also injured in the incident: a 47-year-old, 49-year-old, and 57-year-old.
The 34-year-old man and the three women were taken to a local hospital, police said.
The storefront in question belonged to the Rainbow Bakery. It opened Monday. ...”
I worked in the Michigan office for a New Jersey based company. One day an IT guy named jack Chiang was at the office. As he was leaving I asked him to drop me off st the shop to get my car.
He pulls onto the 50 mph road and I told him he needed to do a U turn. As cars are whizzing by, he just flat stops in the middle of the three lane road. He makes the U turn and proceeds to drive in the left lane at 30 mph.
When I got back to work I must have still been pale. They actually asked if I was ok.
I said “I’ve been nervous before, scared before. I’ve never been terrified before.”
I’ll never drive with a New Jersey Chinese driver again.
Thought we were following a drunk driver. Eventually the Corolla clipped a Honda in the adjacent lane. They both pulled over. As we passed the Corolla driver exited. It was an Asian female in her 20’s. Fully masked alone in her car with a fedora pulled down to her eyebrows. She probably was hypoxic. Talk about perpetuating a stereotype. For those who think I am some sort of “racist” my wife is Asian and she was laughing as hard as I was.
Too many years in cities.
