In what world are these kid acts “adult contemporary”?
Jonas Brothers
Lewis Capaldi
Maroon 5
The worst part is this is what American Culture is to the rest of the world these days, and it does influence the rest of the world.
Yep, liberals ruin everything.
“The “popular music” really sucks these day.”
I agree but a lot of people like this stuff and also shows like the Bachelor and gay- and woke-saturated shows.
What’s the relationship between their entertainment tastes and how they vote? Maybe not much. After all, entertainment is supposed to be a step away from boring reality.
Howard Beale said it best in Network, “We’re in the boredom killing business!”
If the music industry produced actual music, it might get more attention.
Maybe people are sick of listening to crap music and hearing so-called artist spew crap as they lecture American citizens.
The WHAT awards?
Interesting article about TV ratings, since the full article doesn’t even mention which network the show was carried on.
How long before TV ratings numbers get rigged too?
My wife and I have that same sort of experience when we watch Jeopardy. If the category is about pop culture, it is almost always recent stuff and we usually don't know any of the correct responses. They are getting more and more recent because the younger contestants frequently have not even seen a black and white movie. If the category is about rap/hip-hop, I don't even guess.
Should be called what it is: The Fascist Awards for Filth with Harmonic Accompany.
I try to keep an open mind about current music.
Once in a while, you can stumble upon someone with real talent that has not yet been Slutted Up or Dumbed Down.
Of the three you named, I would say
Lewis Capaldi is someone worth listening to.
I just discovered some of his music the other day.
This is a young man from Scotland. He doesn’t look like much. At first glance I wasn’t sure if I was seeing a sloppily dressed, slightly chubby teenage girl or boy. But he has a very good voice, strong and melodic when he needs to be.
Sometimes Lewis can over-sing his verses, needlessly jumping octaves from gravely bass to a hoarse falsetto. He will get better over time. What I heard from Lewis sort of reminds me of a young Jim Morrison (Doors).
He likes to tell stories, the way Gordon Lightfoot used to do. Not many fellows singing this way nowadays.
The other two can be entertaining, but their sound has become rather homogenized and Old Hat.
He is 24 years old. I fail to see that rank as “adult contemporary”.
Where is the music for ADULTS over the age of 30?
“We’re in the boredom killing business!”
It’s been said that monotony is the mother of all the deadly sins (Edith Wharton says that in “The Age of Innocence”).
But watching entertainment is the essence of non-activity and that ain’t good either.
“Shut-up and sing.”
Soon the will be asking for a bail out...?
What will they replace them with? Another reality show that is a rip off of some other reality show?
They have no NEW ideas.
Didn’t even know it was on. Yawn...
My wife and I have that same sort of experience when we watch Jeopardy.
I laugh because they have never seen a pay phone or a rotary dial phone and they laugh because I don’t know how to send messages on my cell phone.
The world has past me by and the only thing I can do is sit along side of the road and watch it pass by.
It is hell to get old, but I don’t envy the world the Democrats are creating for our young people.
