Roberts’ recent vote contributed in no small way to the mess we’re in. If the Supremes fail to clean it up it will be tantamount to condoning widespread fraud, depriving equal protection, and tolerating a lack of transparency. This, of course, would lead to a lack of confidence in the legitimacy of our governing institutions and the severe erosion of faith in the republic itself.

Agreed. I have contempt for people like Roberts who go through life trying not to get any mud on their good white shoes. If nothing is done, things will turn ugly, and it will be his fault.

ACB is in a very difficult situation and might not be the savior we are hoping she will be. What in your estimation are the odds that the Supremes will take steps to restore confidence in our voting systems? Will they recognize the implications for the country and do the right thing, or will they look to sidestep the tough decisions thereby perpetuating the problems?

With ACB, it's all about the appearances. The Justices themselves are not actually subject to recussal rules for lower courts. No one can make her recuse herself if she doesn't feel that is appropriate. If she does recuse herself, it could then depend on getting a vote from the liberal wing. SCOTUS declining to hear a case quickly, before a circuit court panel or rehearing en banc is extremely rare. They like to let things develop as much as possible in the lower courts before deciding anything, especially with something political like unprecedented election disputes.

Twitter is convinced that SCOTUS denied it just because it wasn’t on the docket this morning. LOL

If the Supreme Court avoids meaningful action against this fraud, and the indisputable threat to our republic, it portends bad things for what’s left of the liberties that made this country great (e.g., our right to free speech).

We should enjoy expressing ourselves freely while we can. I have no doubt that the Dems intend on muzzling us to an extent never before imagined and at some point will look to friendly courts to rubber stamp it.
