“Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO Max and Apple TV approve.”

The list of new, worthless films in this article is a great ad for all of those services.

Indeed, there’s a scene from the so-called comedy, “The War with Grandpa,” that’s horribly unfunny where Deniro falls off a ladder backwards. That’s a horrific thing for anybody to suffer, let alone a man over 70, who could easily be killed or permanently crippled by such a fall. IOW, just about as funny as a gas chamber joke about Jews in 1942 Germany.

How often did you go before Covid?

My wife and I would go at least once a month, sometimes twice. It is the “experience” rather than any particular genre of film.

I am often curious how often people on FR would have gone before Covid. Because it’s more likely ya not something you did a lot of before.

The whole purpose of the “plot” in many such movies is to glue glue explosions together.

Years ago, my wife and I used to go about once per month. But for the last few years, say 8-10 years, we’ve only been about once per year. I think the last two that we saw were “Dunkirk”, which I didn’t think was all that good, and the one about Churchill, which I thought was excellent.

I hardly consume any US made entertainment anymore, most now comes from other countries.

————————————

Considering a lot of funding for US films comes from the Chinese Communist Party, I agree with you.

Not much more out there after the US, however. Second largest film producer is India. And it’s all pure crap.

***the inevitable tallest person in the theater sitting in the seat directly in front of me***

THAT is exactly what happened to me at the roadshow play PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! I only got to see half of the presentation, the right half.
Wife’s niece, in 2012, took me to NYC where I saw the complete Broadway show, and Donald Trump was in the audience!

Last time I was in a theater was to see the remake of TRUE GRIT. I can name all the movies I have seen at theaters in the last 23 years on one hand. In my younger days I was often at the theaters maybe once a week or so.

I had enough of people talking, chewing gum LOUD, playing with their phone, high dollar popcorn and drink.

I effing hate KDramas. That ALL that’s on Philippines TV nowadays.

Absolutely can’t stand captioning.

Production values seem to be “amateurish”

Really don’t like old Hollywood movies, “the classics” as I’m heavily into Science Fiction. Old war movies and westerns bore me to death.

I pretty much stick to the classics. The Sons Of Katie Elder is on now.

I am often curious how often people on FR would have gone before Covid.

The last time I went to a movie with my wife was in 1994. Had to go twice. My daughter was six years old and I was still Active Duty and traveling to Europe every few weeks. My wife took my daughter to see the Lion King one time and then The Santa Clause. My daughter was distraught because of the father dying in one and being separated in the other so when I would get home we had to go back so my daughter could see the movie while holding my hand.

Before that my wife and I went to see Moscow On The Hudson in 1984. That was it.

The last movies I saw at the theater were “Indiana Jones and that stupid Crystal Skull” and “Men in Black 3”.
Plots were stupid and acting lousy as well.

there are thousands and thousands of shows to watch for free using Roku apps like the FREE Pluto TV one.
