Last time I voted in Texas, 2000, we used scantron ballot cards. Filled in bubbles with a pencil and turned them in. The scan card offered a paper record, and the tally state wide came in remarkably fast.
Excellent system, secure and simple, and not very costly. Therefore, I am sure Texas got rid of it.
Exactly, if the system is simple and cheap, politicians can’t expect much money under the table.
