The comments are nonsense. The President doesn’t set the Circuit Assignment, the Chief Justice does.

Moreover, Clarence Thomas has had jurisdiction over Georgia (the 11th Circuit) for a LONG, LONG time. Nothing has changed there.

The only changes that were made were made because of Justice Ginsburg’s death and Barrett’s arrival to the Court.

Roberts moved Sotomayor to the 2nd Circuit, which Ginsburg previously had.

Sotomayor had previously been responsible for the 10th Circuit, which was moved to Gorsuch, as well as the 6th Circuit, which was moved to Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh, who had previously been assigned to the 7th Circuit, also took on the 8th Circuit, ceding the 7th Circuit to Barrett.

Take a look at WHY these assignments were made.

Alito has the 3rd Circuit (where he previously worked as a Court of Appeals Judge)

Sotomayor has the 2nd Circuit (where she previously worked as a Court of Appeals Judge)

Gorsuch has the 10th Circuit (where he previously worked as a Court of Appeals Judge)

Barrett has the 7th Circuit (where she previously worked as a Court of Appeals Judge)

Breyer has the 1st Circuit (where he previously worked as a Court of Appeals Judge)

Roberts has the DC Circuit and the 4th Circuit (previously worked as a Judge in the DC Circuit)

Thomas has the 11th Circuit (He was born in Georgia)

Kagan and Kavanaugh are the only two judges that don’t have a Circuit that they aren’t really connected with.

Wow. You know a great deal about all the players on the top team. The heavy hitters, the low ballers, those who like to bunt and the ones usually found in Left Field. I definitely don’t unless I make an effort.

I was going to post something very similar. This is a non-issue. I think each justice was given a choice and most of them ended up with their preferred choice. There’s nothing sinister in these assignments.
