I’m too far ‘south’ for the Pileated, but I’ll bet my Red Bellied Woodpeckers would LOVE a bigger suet cage.

I have a shepherds crook that I hang our hummingbird feeder on. When they leave, the birdola cage goes up, I use 4 cable ties to tie it flat against the crook top. It is very stable then. The birdola cage has 2 little wire “shelves” at the bottom and the birds really like to grab onto that. Last year or the first time we even had a little junco sit on the shelf and have some suet. And they are always ground feeders. We have our share of woodpeckers too from downy to hairy to red bellied to pileated. Then again our house is in a very old woods. Up early today, baking day - zucchini bread and cheesecake.
