I saw where he didnt pay his yearly fee. Perhaps that is what was referenced.

I dont know the details of the fee issue

He is at the age where he could retire his license but he has chosen not to do that...so he has to pay a yearly fee.
You cant practice law if you havent paid the fee . His State likely also requires CLE classes over a certain time frame

His state may also allow him to go on hiatus where you pay a reduced fee, keep your license, and you dont take CLE classes.

btw, if you are on a hiatus status you can’t practice law but you are still a lawyer

I’m sure he’s practiced way too long to be having to take CLE’s if required in NY.
