Ezra Cohen-Watnick just delivered a speech regarding the move to place civilian SpecOps directly underneath the Acting Sec of Defense. Listen closely.

Apparently neither does anyone else.
Depends who gives the orders, and what orders are given. What are their objectives? What limits or controls on activity? Where is it deployed, inside or outside the US?
Praetorian Guard? Brownshirts? Any of these ring a bell?
As if DOD is any more reliable than the CIA.
To combat “very non-conventional forces” in “an era of great power competition”.
There is a whole group of people who think he is “E”..and in that whole “thing” was a story about how Ezra took out a terrorist cell in a timely fashion for $20k
All of this is above my understanding of govt roles and departments but all that I am reading is that despite having a snowflake soy boy name..Ezra is a bad ass.

5)”Ezra Cohen-Watnick, acting under secretary of defense for intelligence and security, who also spoke, noted that President John F. Kennedy predicted the need for special operations forces, which are particularly suited to unconventional warfare.”
SpecOps has been in vogue lately, making the magazine covers and Hollywood movies - far in excess of their actual tactical value - and mixed historic success.
They have a humungous budget, a nearly free hand when it comes to tactics, training, equipment and operational employment but they are still an auxiliary force to supplement and assist the ground-gaining forces in a real war.
Despite the gritty, unshaven Soldier of Fortune image, they can only be used when the enemy is weak, decentralized, and unaware. In the past, they got their butts handed to them when they went beyond their core strengths. See "Panama" and "Grenada" and the "Iran Rescue op", some parts of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Making them bigger, independent and even more heavily funded only takes away from the real combat forces who are already being short-changed and who will be needed in any kind of full-on war.
Dumb idea.
Won’t this be undone in January?
Yes the Military Lied to Trump about Syria withdrawal and those deep staters are all still there! I guess if Trump fires dem he can’t court marshals dem?

·This probably means Ezra Cohen-Watnick is now in charge of BOTH intel *and* covert ops at DOD, no supervision but Acting SECDEF. Cohen-Watnick is the former Nunes staffer who was in the thick trying to debunk Mueller and accuse Obama admin of outlandish conspiracies
Trump has moved in into various positions; the establishment has done EVERYTHING in its power to ice him out. Watching this guy and Trump's positioning of him over four years has been fascinating.
He's assumed to be a spook's spook - at one time there were no photos of him on the internet. I first became aware of him by following Thomas Wictor, who was on to ECW from the early days of the Trump Administration
The fact that ECW is the one announcing this particular policy change, and specifically citing JFK's vision, is highly significant to the 17th letter people. But those aren't the only people who find this big.
some people thinking now that Ezra was Q (have no opinion whether that was real or some dude in a basement at his mom’s house)
from a year ago
QAnon says “Important to Remember”-Ezra Cohen-Watnick !!!
Trump has moved •him• into various positions
