Have you tried Craig’s list and other online searches like that? It sure beats trying to find one here tha could be hundreds of miles from you.
Find a mexican dude.
Find groups on Facebook that specialize in 70’s cars. Join the group and then try and find a member locally.
I belong to a muscle car group that is pretty good. Also a group for old trucks. Both have folks who do restoration.
Jerry is a friend of mine and won’t screw ya but he won’t take a screwing either.
Mechanics generally won’t work on old cars as they don’t know enough about them. (I have a ‘56 Studebaker and ‘48 Plymouth. There are only three or four people in town who will even look at them.). You need to Google your model and “club.”. Join a club for your car. They will know everyone local who can and will work on them. Club members are a valuable resource for information and parts.

This thread is no good without pics. Women are great to see but classic cars are THE Beauty in life.
Old car
Local high school autoshop project?
Fer gawd’s sake, what model and engine???
Have an old 1970 model GM car
I was gonna suggest you find some Cubans, but your car's about 15 years too new.
Are you looking for mechanical or for body work?
Prepare to spend some money. You think it only needs small fixes. They tend to turn into a project all by itself, then a few more projects get uncovered.
I’ve been working on my Willys truck for the last few years. I started like you, saying I’ll fix this and this and I’ll be all set. Turns out I’ve essentially refurbished/replaced all of the mechanical stuff on the truck. “The knee bone is connected to the leg bone....”
Roll up the sleeves and buy some wrenches. It is satisfying if you can do it. Plus you will have a bunch of new tools.
Contact Shorty and explain to him what you are trying to do. He will hook you up or at least give you a direction. Shorty is a perfectionist.

Sounds like you want something for nothing.
If you can’t afford the car, sell it to someone who can, or someone who has the talent to fix it up themselves.
Disclaimer: I’m a craftsman who is endlessly fending off people who want my me to work for nothing.
I have some experience with old cars and would volunteer to do it for free but I live in Belvidere, N.J. so it would be a bit too far to commute. Plus I am 80 years old and work a bit slowly these days. Good luck with your projact.
Would be best to find someone with the skills that Elizabeth Montgomery had... If she were still with us, she could do the whole job in a twitch of the nose..
Unfortunately she died of cancer at a very early age (62) in 1995...
Maybe Barbara Eden, now 89, could help you out... She is still beautiful, but I don't know if she retained her powers...
Other than that, if you don't have 20-to-30K to spare, keep buying those lotto tickets...
What model car is it?
Your best bet is to go to as many car shows as possible when the idiotic coronavirus BS has cleared up. Ask for help and advice from people you meet who have fixed up cars similar to yours. They will be able to steer you toward the most reasonable and competent people that they know who do this type of restoration work.
My only caution is that you should try to have them do the minimum that is needed to get the car on the road. Any clean up and refinishing that you can do yourself... you should do yourself. For instance if the engine is running OK, don’t let anyone talk you into major work... it will be more trouble than it is worth and can lead to all manor of additional expenses and headache. We have a friend who started working on his rare 42 Cadillac. The shop wanted to do a complete engine overhaul. if he had driven it for a few thousand miles and sprayed it down with penetrating oil for a few months this might have gone OK. Instead every bolt they tried to take out of it broke off and created thousands of dollars in additional work that might not have been needed.
