Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases statewide, Governor Larry Hogan has announced a series of additional restrictions statewide to take effect this Friday, November 20th.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, all restaurants, bars, and facilities where food and/or alcohol are served must close by 10 p.m. Takeout and delivery services are encouraged to continue, but in-person dining will not be permitted between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition, all retail businesses, religious institutions, and personal services will revert back to 50% capacity restrictions, as previously seen in Stage Two of the state’s reopening plan.
Fans will no longer be permitted in the stands at any professional or collegiate stadium or racetrack statewide.
Until further notice, visitation at all Maryland nursing homes will be heavily limited, and all visitors must have proof of a negative COVID test result within 72 hours prior to their visit. Visits will also generally be limited to compassionate care visits. The state is doubling the number of Rapid Response Teams deployed to nursing homes and to other outbreaks, clusters, and hotspots to provide an extra level of triage and to supplement staffing needs.
The Maryland Health Department is also instituting mandatory, twice-weekly testing for all staff at nursing homes statewide, and mandatory weekly testing for all nursing home residents, effective no later than Friday.
In addition to limiting visits at nursing homes, hospital visitation will now be restricted statewide until further notice, with exceptions of compassionate care, parents or guardians of minors, obstetrics, and support for patients with disabilities.
All of these new restrictions come amidst a surge in cases statewide. Governor Hogan says the state has now seen 13 straight days with more than 1,000 new cases, including 2,149 new cases in just the past 24 hours. The statewide positivity rate is now 6.85%, the 8th straight day it has been over 5%. 20 of the state’s 24 jurisdictions have positivity rates above the 5% benchmark.
For the first time since June 7th, Maryland has surpassed 1,000 hospitalizations. Hogan says hospital capacity in the state is up 100% since November 1st, with 255 patients currently in the ICU.
The governor is also encouraging college students who are planning to return home, anyone visiting an older relative, and anyone returning from out of state travel to get tested.
“We are in a war right now, and the virus is winning. Now more than ever, I am pleading with the people of our state to stand together a while longer to help us battle this surging virus,” said Hogan.
Hogan has caught the more deadly “other office” disease.
Oh well. Hope he has as much success as Martin O’Malley!
We have entered the natural cold and flu season. People have been unnecessarily revved up at fearing a sniffle or a cough.
I do believe that this is where all these new "cases" are coming from. From people naturally entering this year's cold season.
Back in April, when we were forced back into lockdowns and the mask-wearing was increased, I began to tell people: "You just wait, by the time the natural cold and flu season comes along Fauci and the media will have us so scared that we will clamor for his vaccine."
Man, I should have made some bets.
The directives are getting ridiculous. Another town in my area basically made a mockery of Cuomo’s demand that only 10 people and only family attend Thanksgiving. Their responses are getting increasingly humorous mocking Cuomo:
“We don’t have the manpower to knock on doors and do a dinner headcount” so we won’t be doing any enforcing...lol
This will wipe out the remaining restaurants in Maryland, as well as the majority of the remainning small businesses.

This virus is a marvel if bio-engineering. Not only is it not particularly fatal, but it is most dangerous after 10 PM (local time)
Oh please, mRNA is natural occurring substance. The reason this is so effective is precisely because it is the same biology that our body uses to create proteins. Oh, by the way, antibodies are proteins.

Reduction of disease on mortality:

It is a game changer
Additionally, is reduces infection and disease presence by 95%
Thus if 95% effective 100,000 cases become 5,000 cases
And if not completely effective, it still builds some protection against being (+)

I spent all of last week traveling for work. I will not be getting tested. Two of my kids are coming home this weekend, one from out of state. They will not be getting tested beforehand. We will be traveling for Christmas to Florida and Michigan. We will not be getting tested.
My wife has a minor procedure scheduled this week. She had to get tested today.
Who is there to indict Lockdown Larry? The General Assembly. With two exceptions, the legislature has remained absolutely silent through this entire episode.
The two who haven’t remained silent are Dan Cox and Neal Parrott who are the main plaintiffs in a Federal Lawsuit which a federal judge has placed in the Ignore pile for the past several months.
This new round of panic and control over the Communist Chinese virus has turned into a competition among tyrants: Who can hurt the American citizens of their respective states the most.
For many reasons what is going on is absolutely ridiculous -- not the least of which is that every restriction, command, diktat and mandate being issued the week before Thanksgiving Day is not "new"; they have been tried before and most have been in effect for at least the past half year -- and these things simply don't work! Masking, staying two yards apart from every other living soul, shutting down private businesses, closing schools and playgrounds, eliminating all-things entertainment, quarantining of healthy people ... none of these drastic, arguably unConstitutional mandates have done a G-D thing to stop or even slow down the respiratory virus which continues to act -- well -- like a normal flu virus (except it's nowhere near as deadly as most flus!)
This simply must stop. Now! The accumulation of power by a few politicians and bureaucrats who see the virus as an "opportunity" is just not compatible with the existence of our Constitutional Republic.
What American "men" and women are doing to their children -- and to themselves -- is disgraceful at best -- criminal at worst ... even fatal if you get right down to it!
It's about damn time we say "Enough!"

-- We MUST say "Enough of your fear-mongering!" to the plethora of unelected bureaucrats such as "public health officials".
-- We MUST say "Enough of your damn lies!" to all those "experts" who have been wrong so often and who have bastardized science into nothing more than opinion. As to this virus, "Science" has devolved into "Political Science".
These self-absorbed asses are killing our Republic by destroying our economic system, by dissolving our social systems and by crushing the human spirit of American citizens, most tragically, American children who have literally lost a year of growth in their young lives. What a shameful way for adults to behave: deliberately allowing -- yes, allowing that to happen ... to allow other people entrusted with political power to do this to us, to our children and to our country.
What the G-D hell is wrong with us?! Why are we allowing power-obsessed politicians, ego-maniacal bureaucrats and unwise, failed "experts" to do this to us?! Are we so fearful of a respiratory virus with a survival rate of over 99 percent, and are we so subservient to everyday polticians and bureaucrats that we willingly give up our livelihoods, that we physically and psychologically harm ourselves and hurt our children and that we purposefully have replaced rational thought and reasoning with pure emotion just because politicians, bureaucrats and experts commanded that we do so? You'd have to be insane to think this is "the right thing to do" for God's sake.
It's time for American "men" to re-grow a pair, for American women to re-take control of their family's well-being, and for all of us to scream loudly, persistently and courageously to the assholes who have come to believe -- have led themselves, not without good reason, to believe -- that they control our very lives ... and we must do this until they get the message that their tyranny is over ... it's OVER!
Please set aside your emotions, fear, politics -- whatever -- for just a few precious moments at this normally joyous time of the year and realize this tyranny not going to end without a mass, hopefully peaceful (at least at this point) uprising. You must understand this is not going to happen out of the goodness of our "leaders' hearts" or without your active involvement. History and human nature being what it is, you must understand that politicians and bureaucrats are not going to give up their vast new, self-annointed powers, and "experts" are not about to give up their new-found celebrity without a fight. No sirree they're not! But realize the odds are in our favor. I calculate, conservatively, we outnumber the tyrants and experts by, oh, say well over a million to one. Decent odds ... but the numbers and the odds mean nothing without positive action.

My wife and I don’t go out of the house after 10pm because that’s when the COVID emerges. It’s kind of like Dracula but too lazy to come out at sundown.
I don’t share your misplaced optimism. This is a manufactured crisis and public health officials have already stated that vaccinations won’t end masking.
Thus the academic question is “What constitutes an ‘end’?”
One mutation and it’s back to square one, but don’t tell the ‘experts’ to reevaluate their approach for a virus which is less deadly than the risk of dying in an vehicular crash for most of the population, certainly less deadly than influenza.
You could have just answered “Kool-Aid” and saved yourself a bunch of time & effort.

I left the ‘freak’ state 3 years ago.
The hospitals are filling up in the Midwest. We need to take some effective steps for the next few weeks or maybe a couple months.
