My first job in O&G was in Casper.
Told my wife I’d consider retiring there.
She said ok but she sure was gonna miss me.
This is the same person who, when I drove her into Midland TX for the first time said, “It’s pretty desolate.”
I replied, “A HA! So, you admit it is pretty!”
Casper is cold sometimes, but it is pretty. But for a Michigander, WY would be cake weather-wise once you get used to the breezes.
Reminds me of when I got transferred to Ridgecrest Ca in the Mojave desert, the mid 70’s. First day in town with the family was March 31, stayed in a motel that night. Next morning looked out the window and wife asked what the weather looked like outside. I said 4 inches of snow on the ground. Because it was April 1st she sarcasticly “right” and then dressed in shorts, short sleeve shirt, and sandals. Few minutes later she stepped outside and there really was 4 inches of snow.
