I don’t know that the Kraken was released exactly.
I would say that the gate to the courtyard that leads to the drawbridge that goes over the ravine that has to be crossed to get to the cage where the Kraken is locked up was opened.
Reminds me of how the media was able to cover up for the toon. . . until the blue dress dropped.
