Original Poster. You asked the basic question first (I believe) — I didn’t want to hijack the conversation by re-phrasing the request for my own purposes and then risk skipping over what you, as the Original Poster, was trying to achieve.
Kodiak instead of roku or with roku?
Oh. At our house it meant oat porridge.
The more the merrier on the tech threads!
I use Kodi on the same TV as my Roku. Unfortunately, you can’t use Kodi within the Roku app (yet)
Why are you wanting to use a browser, on your new Roku TV?
You do NOT need to go through their browser, to use Roku streaming functions (apps, channels, etc.).
Are you wanting to surf the web, on your TV?
That is for streaming content from a media server such as a Plex server which is a server that stores videos, audio, and photos for streaming to network connected displays. They call it a browser, however that is not meant to mean Web Browser. It’s a media server browser. If you don’t have a media server, delete the browser app.
I want to use ustvgo.tv and pluto.tv on my tv
Oh it is for looking at content i would own in a library on a server on my network.
Exactly!
Ah-Ha....thats not what you TV looks for. The picture on that will not be good-especially on a good TV.
I think what your system is looking for is access to the downloaded apps for the services you want to use.
I use a fire stick and I had to download the Apple TV, Netflix, and Hulu apps to the service. Only then could I watch them through the fire stick.
And, I had to download HBO/Max directly to my TV. There are resolution issues all aroundbut not relevant here.
I think the problem is the definition Roku is using for their interface. When I think media browser, I think of a server.
I would guess a quick search on Rokus site for definitions would help you through this.
Looks like there is a plutoTV app, for Roku channel line up.
Not sure about ustvgo.tv
You don’t need a computer, but you do need an internet connection. — I hooked up one yesterday, so still learning, but no computer needed.
I have roku and a ton of apps. I get ustvgo.tv and pluto.tv beautifully on my tablets. But I would love the content and Choice on my main TV.
How if it is possible
The pluto app gets me some kids cartoon channel. Not the lineup
They simply might not be available through Roku..unless processed through that media browser server thingwhich sounds like a connected computer. And that is a service-specific thing.
I dont use Roku....so I cannot help beyond that.
That said, have you considered mirroring your laptop to your TV. It might be possible through a Bluetooth or source connection. I can do it with my laptop...but the quality is not great.
It is, of course, a whole other balywick that might require some hands on.
with your ROKU remote go to their streaming channels app store, or go to your ROKU account via computer/Iphone. At their app ‘store’ add your request for subscription to the Pluto app
As to traveling to other sites via URLs - we’ve a Samsung smart TV able to do that. DH has, from time to time used his phone to find the site and flung it to the TV for viewing.
Should Rumble and other video sites change the norm from You Tube...cringe at the thought as You Tube is (at this time) the only video site being offered.
I have the pluto app on roku. It opens to a crummy kid cartoon
Got the pluto app on roku to switch from m live tv to on demand! Now if I can just get oann!
I’ve got a roku tv and all i did was to go to home page and do a SEARCH. Pluto comes up. Click on it. That’s it.
