Video shows AAA driver refusing to tow car with Biden bumper sticker

A viral TikTok out of Oregon shows a tow truck driver for the American Automobile Association, or AAA, apparently refusing to tow a customer’s car because it sported a bumper sticker supporting President-elect Joe Biden.

The driver was working for River’s Edge Automotive and Towing, a Dalles, Oregon-based company that works with AAA, the Oregonian reports. The TikTok, uploaded by user Nate Estes (@estesnate), shows the driver glowering in the direction of the camera and shedding his reflective safety jacket as he enters his truck. Estes and a friend get a shot of the truck’s license plate before the driver takes off.

“Hi, don’t know this mans [sic] name but he refused service to us for our Biden bumper sticker and tried to run us over shortly after this video,” the caption reads.

The video spread quickly online, as many people voiced their concern over the AAA driver willingly abandoning people on the side of the road.

Now why do I find this hard to believe?

If this was a Trump supporter who was abandoned, AAA would issue a apology and tell the world it had suspended the tow truck driver. That would be the end of it. My dad taught me that turnabout is fair play.

I admit to admiring the AAA guy. He most likely knew he’d be fired for refusing to tow their vehicle.

If I were a business person in the area, I’d be reaching out to offer him a position... assuming he could be trained and passed the interview.

We need folks willing to be fired. Sigh.

A skilled worker who can pass a drug test will be hired in a second. I’d offer him a higher salary for his gesture!

There are two misconceptions of AAA here.

They don’t employ drivers. It’s a marketing company that make their money selling subscriber info. They own the world’s largest customer database.

Also AAA isn’t the savior they used to be. You get better treatment by not using them. They pay towers nothing and towers tend to ignore their calls unless they are desperate for money.
