Did that a couple times 2nd round of college. Guys found a dumpster with day old sandwiches we’d cook over a fire pit. I slept in the college lab, behind some bushes and occasionally the cadaver room.
No mayo, toss the lettuce. It could give you a really bad case of gastroenteritis but that never happened. I probably have a lead lined stomach. Only lasted three weeks.
Took a lot of focus to make it through that semester,*Physio, calculus, Chem2B,and Neuro-psych) maintain a high GPA and poor as dirt. Showers at the gym or swimming to keep clean.
The sacrifices of youth...before I shipped out for the Corps I was too young at 17 to get an apartment but old enough to rent a storage unit with 24/7 access. It had a single plug and a overhead light. I still own the minispace heater, single burner hot plate, Ikea nested pot set and electric blanket I used to live on for those cold 4 months waiting to ship out. Used to shower at the gym where I had a membership. I keep them to remind me what surviving and sacrificing for a goal means.
