The sacrifices of youth...before I shipped out for the Corps I was too young at 17 to get an apartment but old enough to rent a storage unit with 24/7 access. It had a single plug and a overhead light. I still own the minispace heater, single burner hot plate, Ikea nested pot set and electric blanket I used to live on for those cold 4 months waiting to ship out. Used to shower at the gym where I had a membership. I keep them to remind me what surviving and sacrificing for a goal means.

At storage places I have been to, they require you to have the lock on at all times you aren't actively using it with it open. How did you stay there like that?

They often go around and put locks on spaces that were left unlocked. You could get trapped in there.
