Sad ending for a good ship and men. It’s a risk you take when you sail with a ship. Great Lakes or oceans, it is what it is. Ships, subs, or a dingy, when you’re out of sight of land Mother Nature and God own your world and your ass. RIP.

So many people do not understand how vulnerable they are. So many think the world and nature is their cozy little friend. Disneyfication of nature and culture, if you will.

P.S. If one studies the lyrics of Fitzgerald, it is a learning experience to verify and understand their meaning. Much has been written on the subject. Great song.

Every year the Great Lakes claim their toll of about 100 people and that is without the Witch of November catching anyone.

People come to vacation and think the Great Lakes are just like the oversized ponds most places call lakes. They are actually fresh water seas with all that implies. No sharks, yet. But they can be very dangerous.
