My thought is exactly the opposite.

They know they’ve caught the Democrats red-handed and Haspel wants her job. If she bucked Trump now, she’d be Esper the Second. She has one chance to keep her job. She’s telling McConnell they’ve got the goods and perhaps she’s even telling him about foreign sources of help to the Democrats.

FReepers need to stop with their constant Eyore drumbeats and logic this out. Esper’s firing was the key to understanding what’s happening, Barr starting an investigation was your second key (they bagged a head there too). Wray has been silent, he’s been put under a gag order and I would suspect he’s cooperating. Haspel is doing Trump’s bidding. She’d already be gone if she wasn’t.
