RIP.
Wasn't around when he was a player, just remembered him as coach and broadcaster.

He didn’t live long enough to see President Biden. (/s)
Seriously, RIP, from the time when pro basketball was a good pastime.

Always liked him. I can’t imagine he would have been on board with this woke BS, although one can never tell nowadays.

‘Great player. Tough, rugged, and smart. A winner.’
I remember Heinsohn hitting a 90 foot hook shot at the halftime buzzer...

What a great quote in the article from a 2016 Heinsohn interview: Well, Mike [Gorman] put it best. Theres a generation its an old generation, my friend, but its a generation! that remembers me best as a player. Theres a generation that remembers me best as a coach. Theres a generation that thinks of me as a broadcaster. And kids, they think Im Shrek! Ill tell you what, Ill take all of it!
I can hear that in the Tom Heinsohn voice:) RIP to a Celtic legend.

And the hits of 2020 keep on coming and coming . . .
Been a Celtics fan for some 50 years (since age 10).
Although he had essentially relinquished his broadcasting duties to Brian Scalabrine, I will sorely miss his commentary alongside Mike Gorman.
Loved how he always hassled with the referees and truly did bleed green.
BTW, he was also a wonderful artist and his paintings were fabulous.

Saw he, Cousy and Russell against West, Baylor, Hot Rod Hundley and Rudy LaRusso at the Sports Arena in 1961. Tommy really knew how to effectively use his bulk to his advantage. My first exposure to the concept that the refs can’t call all of the fouls in a physical game because you would have no game. The refs would become the focus. Kind of like now ie you can’t worry about small scale ballot stuffing because it’s not enough to affect the outcome. Well maybe not singularily hut when it becomes widespread, yes it does affect the outcome.

I loved those Celtic teams. They played the game the way it should be played. Great fundamentals and teamwork. Todays game relies too much on individual athleticism.
