That works out to 2.42% - not 0.242%.
However, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the USA is at least 35 million (by the CDC’s own estimate), so the Case Fatality Rate is around 0.70%.
0.70% is quite high when compared to influenza.
Does not matter. Why?
Because the CDC does not count COVID-19 fatalities the same way it counts influenza fatalities.
When the word "COVID-19" appears on a death certificate, it is classified as the Underlying Cause of Death (UCD) almost 100% of the time.
When the word "influenza" appears on a death certificate, influenza is classified as the UCD only 5%-10% of the time.
The COVID-19 fatality rate in the USA has been a politically motivated scam since Day One.
The CDC modeled the end-game CFR to be around 0.4%, which likely takes your points into effect (i.e. 94% of fatalities with COVID19 on the death certificate also have at least one other comorbidity).
My point, made inartfully, is that this is a virus that can be very bad for a specific subsegment of the population. For most of us, it's a highly contagious yet non-lethal problem....it isn't the flu, but it's not pneumonia. Getting the vaccine should be an otion, not a mandate.
Shall we destroy the economy and our way of life over this, or learn to live with it like the flu, drunk drivers, meth heads, halitosis and of course Springsteen?
