The authors present the more than 200 terrestrial impact sites in high-resolution topographic maps and satellite images, complete with detailed geological descriptions and photographs of the crater structures and their rocks. They also explain the essential details of each impact event.

Look at the number of craters on the moon. The earth has been hit at least as many times.
Out atmosphere takes care of a lot of the smaller ones before they hit. But the larger ones would have hit.
The atmosphere is also responsible for eroding away signs of past impacts. So if erosion can get rid of signs of so many impacts then it could clearly remove signs of previous civilizations.
But Africa has a ‘grid’ on it that doe not look natural at all- it looks like a previous man-made water system.
