I believe roughly over 40% of the US population over age 40 has at least one “co-morbidity”.
That said, there have been endless reports of people doing quite badly (or dying outright) that do NOT HAVE a co-morbidity.
I know you guys want to continue to believe what you believe to “downplay” this, but it doesn’t change the facts.
I wear a mask when I go out in public, mainly because I don't want to get into it with a Karen or a Keith who are operating only on fear. I refuse to wear it when in my car or at home.
My wife works at our local Walmart, so that puts both of us in the front line so to speak. To our knowledge neither of us has caught the Wuhan virus, or if we have it presented no problems to us.
As for your friends, I am sorry to hear that they are having issues, we are all different and react differently to things that can kill some while hardly affecting others, and still others have no issues with it. Another thing is how quickly they sought out help. But the overwhelming reality is that children seem less susceptible than other age groups. Whereas, children are far more susceptible to the flu and even takes the lives of many children. But we don't require masks, nor even social distancing
But the world, including WHO the FDA and even NIH, has treated hydroxychloroquine as a dangerous drug to treat the Wuhan virus, even though it is prescribed to millions of people worldwide, including pregnant women, but banned it from being used for the Wuhan virus. WHO even lists the drug as an essential drug.
Imagine how many lives might have been saved if they had not reacted purely based upon political reasons because they wanted it to kill as many as possible to make President Trump look bad, and instead acted upon medial reasons. I got so mad that Fauci kept calling it an anecdotal drug, while ignoring the successes that had been reported on curing lots of people. But it is most effective if treatment starts at an early stage of the virus's invasion of the body.
As for Taiwan, who knows, maybe they are treating people with hydroxtcloroquine, zinc, and anti-inflammatory medicine, and that is why they have had so few deaths. Then again maybe their diet plays a role.
But I still stand by my statement that it has been extremely overblown, and the reason is primarily due to political considerations, period.
I refuse to live in fear of it, but if you want to fear it, that is your choice, but don't go spouting off as if you are some sort of expert just because you know of people that currently have it, had it etc.
Only in your mind are you interpreting us as downplaying it. What we are saying is that it can be fatal, but not for the majority, and it should be treated like the flu which is also deadly, to some.
