Weigh in.
Do you vote Republican as a 'Republican voter always', or do you vote Republican as 'the lesser of two evils'?
I think our Republican leaders need to get a load of the way we think on Free Republic as REAL conservatives.
And so do we at FR.
This thought came to me in the aftermath of the election.
I'm pretty active on Twitter, and I saw numerous people calling themselves Republicans who obviously believed they were Republicans - but hated Trump because they'd been brainwashed by the Media. These people are politically naive, of course - while believing that they're politically astute.
These Republicans actually believe that things will go back to the two-party system after this election.
My belief is that the 1992 Perot-type voters [deficit hawks/small government types], who were nearly 20% of the vote that year, moved to support the Republican column in the following elections. I'm one of those.
If the Republicans, who take these people for granted, lose that much of their base, they will RARELY win seats at the national level again.
I've been watching the DC Pubbie kabuki show for 20+ years. The Republicans are NOT friends of the small government, fiscal responsibility people.
President "Toto" Trump pulled the curtain back on that little game, and there's no going back.
I only vote R as the lesser of two evils, so I voted for W twice, but I just couldnt bring myself to vote for McCain and Romney.
Check the Latest Posts, and you'll see that Milt and Yeb! will give you a pat on the head as they're twisting the knife in your back and Trump's back...
One more push from these guys...
How about going forward, now that Milt and Yeb! just pulled the knife out of President Trump's back [mere minutes ago].
I know I'll be eager to sit at home and clip my toenails instead of turning out for The Turncoat Party...
Lesser of two evils here. There is no party that represents me, including the Libertarians.
JoMa
Actually not a flawed question.
If I decide as a voter that both evils are the same magnitude [observe the knives of Milt and Yeb! currently sticking out of Trump's and our backs at this moment on the FR Latest Posts page], then I don't bother to vote.
Or I could decide to shiv the slimeballs like Milt and Yeb! right back.
TWO can play that game.
If Trump loses or wins he should start a MAGA party...get everyone who voted for him to signup....we only support MAGA people...
and tell the GOP you want are vote we want results or we put up are own candidates...
working people will support it...Hispanic will support it... Black will support it.. ExDemocrats will support it....they will never support the GOP...they will just stay home......
other wise the GOP is dead
Mitt & Jeb have been left on the ash heap of history.
My two state legislators are fine conservatives. I gladly support both of them.
We’re all distressed that our government and country have been taken over by a corporate-Socialist Big Brother.
They’re going for a total takeover.
Re: Voter Roll.
When My Dad passed away Mom and went to the County Courthouse to tend to other business I made a stop at the County Voter Registrar office to have His name removed from the rolls. I kept checking every year for 10 years to make sure there was no problems Statewide (Texas) with His name being used.
Mom passed away a few years ago and I’m doing the same as I did with Dad. With Mom it’s in NC. So far so good.
Depends on the candidate in terms of how I see it. I have never voted for a Dem, and, being a refugee from communism., never will. But I refuse to ‘sit out’ an election since the evil of the left is magnitudes worse than that of a GOP-e ‘go along to get a long-er’...
Jeb, Mitt, Jon Huntsman too
The Biden people, neverTrumps, lincoln projectors ... should never hold any office in the Republican party again.
I like it. Was republican, now. Trumplican.
I voted for him as well. Good friend in Dallas was his personal secretary... about the time that Haig came for a visit (that never happened, wink wink)
Republican forever. I was raised in a house with a Democrat mother, and Conservative father, and Democrat grandparents. I’ll stand with Conservatism.
Logic is something I can’t find a way around. To not vote Republican means I hand my freedom to a Democrat. No Democrat is that trustworthy. The Democrats turned mafia long ago. It’s just business as they kill those that don’t abide their will.
Keep the GOP MAGA, the GOPe will try to get the GOP back, do not let them.
“Mitt and Jeb”
I get the point. Not sure I agree they are just as bad as the D option. But compared to President Trump, ALL the rest start looking very similar.
As far as not voting in protest, or opting out in disgust, again I get the point. But that’s just helping the enemy and they’d like nothing more than the opposition discouraged enough to sit it out.
I will not sit it out.
Just imagine if all 70 million MAGA voters voted in every local and State election, instead of only being interested in Presidential races. You want to know why elections get stolen, because people vote for Rats and RINOs to run the States.
You think anyone in any position of power reads this stuff? And do you think some GOP-lite person is going to self identify?
Thats a fools errand on a good day. And today is far from a good day.
A libertarian , yes. Many Libertarians do NOT believe in God, Most Democrats do not believe in God either...abortion ( murder), voting for a party that supports murder is the very first question that must dictate your vote. Fact: if you go down the rode of supporting murder of infants, Judgement will be severe. I do believe Biden is a vote for murder, if he wins the election, judgement will be upon us as a Nation, remember, “ even the righteous suffered”.....
Absolutely correct. And hopefully that’s the result of so many being pissed about this. More involvement in local issues.
You think Rats haven’t had bad days over the last 50 years?
They play the long game. We don’t. That has to change.
You realize that EVERY election since 1992, they get half the EVs they need without even having to lift a finger?
