I had Covid, I’m 68 and didn’t think it was that bad, for me, though it probably doesn’t affect everybody the same.

I knew someone that died, BUT... 72 and the person checked every high risk category (obese, blood pressure, pre-existing heart issues...).

When I crunched the numbers a few months back, it looked like we were 1/2 way. Meaning, about 1/2 of the people needing exposed before “herd immunity” stops the spread (using MATLAB and publicly available information).

But none of that matters now. If Joe gets elected he’ll want to see an end to this as fast as possible and instead of stoking the flames of opposition politics with his party and governors lock step working together, they will want to downplay the threat as now they want the economy to bounce back. Call it conspiratorial and laugh it off, but EVERYTHING politicians touch becomes a political issue. These issues are not dealt with pragmatically, rather they are all just issues to exploit for campaigns, to advertise for oneself, and the solutions need to be simple and easy for people to understand, where they can do something to help. That is how you end up with Obama educating us on inflating our tires when asked about his energy policy in 2008, or this idiotic mask being pushed as a solution to a contagious disease that will not stop until it takes it’s pound of flesh with ~43 - 50% of the population being exposed. The end state will be the same regardless of what we do, 43% - 50% need exposed and shy of a vaccine that means many will get very sick or even die.
