...And I wonder: how long does it take to send out a signal to Voyager 2? And for the signal to return? I imagine it is nearly the same time. The time for the round trip will no doubt surprise me.

how long does it take to send out a signal to Voyager 2? And for the signal to return? (12 billion miles / speed of light (186,282 miles/sec)) / 3600 seconds per hour gives ...
a little under 18 hours one way.
