unconfirmed rumors that the initial ping sent back from Voyager was...vote Trump! Ok, I lied, but it seems that repairs to the antenna array in Canbeera, Australia was the fix.
Astounding to think that the computer onboard has '200,000 times less' memory than an average smart phone of today, but it's still chugging 4-plus decades after launch

Good sign. The Communist News Network is trying to distract its dozen viewers from the election.

“You got a command for me? Okay... Yeah, I reckon I do that. Gonna take me awhile, though... You don’t mind a wait, do ya?”
...And I wonder: how long does it take to send out a signal to Voyager 2? And for the signal to return? I imagine it is nearly the same time. The time for the round trip will no doubt surprise me.

I hope the command wasn’t “learn all there is and return it to the ceator.”
ST:TMP plot was based on a TOS episode “ The Changeling”.

The Voyager team is interesting. Using technology from long ago that only a few understand.

My son is an astronautical engineer at NASA. His first job was flight operations on a solar observation satellite. It launched the month he was born for a two year mission.
At some point, something broke and the satellite lost contact for several years. Suddenly one say they regained contact and it’s been performing it’s mission since.
He was about 20 and still in college when he interviewed. He actually said he was born for this job.

Canbeera. My Aussie in-laws are going to love that. It’s quite accurate.
