You can easily trace the ecliptic at night by noting the position of the moon, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter this evening. Mars is especially bright and Jupiter is also pretty easy to spot. Saturn is not so bight but will be to the left of Jupiter.

Night before last I went out to observe the moon in spectacularly clear skies. As I came in my wife asked what I was looking at. I told her the moon and an especially bright Mars.

She went to look. I’m not sure she had actually ever seen Mars before.

Mars was there, all by it’s self with no mistaking it
