I was surprised as heck I found it.
Please stay inside the bicycle lanes and ride single file.
In my area bicyclists ride 2 and 3 side by side with only 1 inside the bicycle lane. It is very difficult to drive past them with out going into the oncoming traffic lane and they quite often yell and make faces and even flip the finger as I go by them. This type of behavior quenches any feelings of fondness I feel towards them.
The girl doing the street art is authentic, I have seen her doing her thing there.
In Berlin it is the law to ride single file in bicycle lanes.
Unless you are riding with a child who is on a bicycle.
Then you are allowed on the sidewalk.
Ive been riding allot of gravel lately. Slower but more challenging and the views are much better. One 40 miles ride took me down an old train route where they had removed all the tracks and turned it into a trail for bikes runners and horses.
It crossed several Texas ranches and and through some small country towns. 40 miles took 31/2 hours because there was plenty of deep gravel, washouts and bridges over creeks. Lots of fun.
They only do that on my roads if they have blind curves and it is rush hour.
They have the right of way! For goodness sakes.
When I bicycle commuted in Seattle, I was hit four times by cars. Every one was a car taking a right turn in front of me. Every time I stayed up but my bike did considerable damage to the right side of their car. I really felt bad for the guy in the brand new, bright red Porsche Carrera. :(
Unfortunately, the murder box infestation never abates.
As a bicyclist, I see some idiots (adult blacks, not to be racist, in the inner cities) pulling out in front of cars, riding the wrong way and texting. Tampa Bay is one of the worst places to bike because of bicycle car crashes.
“If you see a bike you like and it’s in store, buy it. Forget about discount. Forget about colour – whether it’s pink or purple, green or blue – just buy it. Smart people shop early: if you leave it till December there will be no stock.”
A few times I am the idiot but usually when at a new complicated corner.
In the worst case I get off and walk until it looks good again.
I rode my bicycle daily, for transportation locally, for a decade, even on days where the temp was as low as 28 degrees F (provided no snow or rain), but since I got a car a little over a year ago, my bike has been crying over being abandoned.
I am trying to commit to riding again often, as a sort of pre-new-year resolution.
After enough problems with cars, other bicyclists and even a doberman intent on catching me, I’ve opted for only neighborhoods, bike paths and sidewalks whenever possible.
The worst was getting clipped from behind by another friendly biker in the Bloomington Hilly Hundred. Saved by the helmets that I’d prefer not to wear anymore - crushed my helmet, broke shoulder blade, collar bone and rib. Swelling on my left hip about the size of a catchers mitt so bad I thought it was broken too.
I am a part-time cyclist, and live in area of narrow twisty roads in heavy hardwood forests that canopy the pavement so in summer when you enter the forest, you go from bright sun to darkness. It’s very hard to see in these forest “tunnels”.
Cannot believe the cyclists who ride these dangerous roads a.) in dark clothes, and b.) with no flashing taillight, and c.) in the middle of the lane.
I think they are idiots or suicidal - or both.
I know 2 cyclists who were hit, one nearly died, multiple surgeries, in hospital for months, lost function of right calf, wife left him - and he was not doing any of the above “Cannot believe” things. Cycling on public roads is dangerous, especially with so many idiots who text even when it’s against the law.
I ride in a business parkway, divided, 35mph, where it’s very safe - a cyclist’s heaven - hills, twists, lakes, forests, and little traffic.
I wish all cyclists could find such a place.
