Thoughts on Arizona, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin: Trump or Biden?
11/2/2020

I think the outcome of the election could depend on these states.

If Trump loses Pennsylvania he can still win if he prevails in Arizona, Minnesota, North Carolina and Wisconsin. I believe Trump will win FL, OH and MI.

Does Trump have a real shot at winning Minnesota or North Carolina? I am worried about those two states. It would help tremendously if wins those two.

I am generally confident of a Trump victory but rather not assume anything.

The rallies are full of shy voters.

You just see an awful lot of frustrated people in Minn/Wis...over the riots and looting business. A lot of them were not exactly pro-Trump but they see Antifa/BLM as a bigger threat to them than anything Trump ever did. I’ll suggest at least 100k votes in both states flipping to Trump from the 2016 election.

Antifa will regret greatly what they did to help Trump win.

Havasu is Trump land. Though there are a few Biden signs scattered here and there ... they are out numbered by Trump signs about 100:1

After the burning and looting of Philly, you say Trump has no chance in Pennsylvania??

President Trump will finish with 340 to 370 electoral votes.

No. I think Trump will win PA. I’m just thinking of scenarios where Trump can win if he happens to lose PA.

I don’t have a strong sense about some states like NC or WI.

“Also, it was the one state he refused to campaign for, because he considered it unseemly to win his opponent’s state.”

Actually, confident of reelection, he did impishly make his only campaign trip to Minnesota in the last few days of the campaign. I remember that as a hallmark of how overwhelmingly he was winning.

From what I understand, Reagan told them to stop counting Minnesota so Mondale could have at least his home state. Reagan didn’t want to humiliate him by taking that away so he let him keep that. Don’t know if it’s true but one has to admit that 0.08% is a bit odd to lose a state.

PA, WI, MI = Trump loses

FL, NC, AZ, IA, 1 EV from ME, all 5 EV from NE and all other 2016 Trump states = Trump wins

All other states Hitlery won in 2016 = Trump loses, except.... Trump surprises with a victory in Minnesota to give him a 270-268 win. That's as realistically (except maybe the Minnesota part) optimistic as possible.

And as long as were semi-dreaming here: Republicans end up with only a net -1 loss in the Senate and retain control by picking up AL, losing CO & ME, and somehow holding AZ and all the other vulnerable ones too numerous to mention. Dems hold the House easily though Reps could net a small gain.

My assumption was his neighbors would turn out to be liberals like most Californians. However they both turned out to be staunch Trump supporters, who like flying Trump flags like my Dad.

A lot has to do with why the people are moving in the first place. For instance, wealthy New Yorkers going to Vermont for a quiet, inexpensive place to retire young, likely very bad. Only a few can overwhelm the place until they elect a leading senator who sounds like he spent his whole life in Brooklyn.

We have seen this happen before with okay results. The entire southeast used to be lightly populated until jobs started moving there in the '70s, drawing northerners. Many of the carpetbaggers adopted many of the southern mannerisms and values over time. I lived in southern Georgia for four years, and the people are great. I still drink my iced tea unsweetened and I am a Catholic, not a Baptist, but everything else was compatible. The wave that moved in the 70 and 80s also adapted, not completely, but enough that they weren't going to vote for the next John Lindsey or Robert Kennedy. These were people moving to raise families.

I was too young to vote in 1984 but was very happy when Reagan won. I remember Mondale at a rally just before his defeat saying, “I smell victory in the air”. LOL.

My favorite memory from that election:
