Exactly! All five of ours are of direct lineage. Four are gray tabbys, but the matriarch of the entire clan is a black tuxedo cat. My sister and her family adopted our male’s brother as a kitten, and he’s a black tuxedo cat like his grandma. Doesn’t look a bit like his brother. After eight years, I’m still adjusting to the needs of cats vs. dogs. But, the kids are grown and have families of their own now, I’m on disability, so it’s nice to have the little buggers here to keep me company when the wife isn’t here, even if all they do is sleep and cack up hairballs. LOL!
Funny...I adore dogs. There is something so...human about dogs.
They remind me of...me. They do stupid things, they roll in things they shouldn’t, they eat things they shouldn’t...they have guilt, they have exuberant love...I love dogs.
I just cannot own one because I couldn’t leave it to itself all day. Maybe when I retire...
That said-I love cats.
They are sleek, physically beautiful, athletic, sensual, deliberate, and fiercely independent in many (but not all) ways. You can own a dog, but owning a cat simply doesn’t happen. You DO have an agreement with them.
I sure do love them.
Their companionship is a boon to me. When I enter the house, the siamese-looking one (who does have the devil in him) will run over at full speed, stand on his hind legs, his body right up to his whiskers fully stretched out, his front paws on the back of the chair, looking adoringly up at me with his blue eyes narrowing, opening and closing slowly, clearly happy to see me.
That is a nice thing...:)
