Ipsos Research Center
today | Synthesist

Posted on 11/01/2020 1:36:41 PM PST by Synthesist

Got an invitation by mail from the Ipsos Research Center. They offered internet access and a tablet for answering their surveys. Today I accepted their invitation.

I want to get feedback and experiences from any FReepers that have used Ipsos.

Thanks in advance!

I used to do their surveys on various companies and products for extra money

That was a while back but they were ok

And that’s how you skew a poll

Political poll? Soda pop poll?

Can you hint at the questions?

Here is a nice neutral question:

Do you support the fascist dictator Trump or the compassionate supporter of the working man Biden?

;-)

I've gotten several Ipsos surveys. They do pay well. And Democrats are usually one of their biggest sources of polling requests. You can tell by the questions. Things like: How likely will the Coronavirus prevent you from voting in-person on Tuesday? Or How strongly do you believe Climate change is increasing the severity of storms and hurricanes across the United States? (Asked the week of a major hurricane hitting the U.S).

I have zero reservations about taking the Democrats money for this type of thing!

They said that Ipsos would send me a tablet and a means to connect to the internet. Can’t pass that up!

That sounds like a push poll.

There is _no way_ you can get valid data with questions like those!

Ha! Thanks!

I’ll take their tablet and internet access...

And then give them the conservative business the country deserves...

Just to expand on my comment a little bit, you cannot lead a respondent _in any way_ if you want valid data.

You just can’t do it.

You can’t use any “loaded words” like “climate change” or even “coronavirus” if you want totally valid data.

You can get there without leading.

What are the ten most important issues to you—with _no_ suggestions!

You can ask them if they are more likely or less likely to vote in person than last time.

You can ask them if they have already voted.

etc

But, _anything_ that is not _totally_ and _fanatically_ neutral will skew the poll results.

Hey, I don’t think Ipsos will like any answers this conservative gives!

You need to work “Glorious” into that description of Biden. Perhaps “benevolent” as well.

There’s been several surveys I’ve received that ask upfront if I consider myself a Democrat, Republican, or Independent OR a Liberal, Moderate, or Conservative. When I’ve answered the question, I’m thanked for my time and the survey ends.....

Question: have you got these survey questions by cold calls on your phone, or by an internet access provided by Ipsos?

I signed up through their website loooonnnnnngggg ago. They email me when they have new surveys available, and I answer them through my own computer. Pays the equivalent of a $1 each, but I’ve gotten surveys for as much as $20 from them.

Thanks for that FRiend!

A “free” tablet and internet access seems to be a small price to pay for me giving them my conservative opinions. :)

They may use that 'free' tablet to tap into your debit account. Are you sure they are who they claim to be?

I'll get 6-10 scams a day either via email or phone.

On email, they always say, "If you don't want to receive any additional information, just click on this link".

If you do that, your problems have just begun.

Thanks for your appreciated concern.

I got the Ipsos invitation by snail mail. Most scammers don’t do that. Rest assured I will be forever careful of my personal ID info. I know that ID theft is far too rampant… I would NEVER give anyone info to access to my accounts!
