Even though ABC spent part of their Sunday marveling at chants of we love you at massive Trump rallies, CBS Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan thought she was confronting Republican Party Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel with accusations that President Trumps supporters werent enthusiastic about him. Not only was Brennan schooled by McDaniel, CBS Evening News anchor Norah ODonnell later warned of the shy Trump voter gaining courage.
In the midst of her contentious interview with the RNC Chairwoman, Brennan recalled that McDaniel had invested a lot of funding into the Republican Party ground game all across the country. But, without evidence, she tried to cast doubt on how much Trump supporters backed their president. If your voters are so excited about President Trump, why haven't they shown up yet, she sneered. While McDaniel was explaining how Republicans prefer to vote on Election Day (a historical fact, not to mention data shows that Republicans were catching up to Democrats in early voting), Brennan rudely interrupted her guest and asked: Why?
McDaniel then schooled Brennan on how Republicans save their enthusiasm for Election Day and show up in big numbers
Continuing to push her assertion that the bottom had fallen out of Trumps support, Brennan pounced on McDaniels recent comments to The Wall Street Journal regarding how some of Trumps support amongst suburban woman had faded away. Our data shows it more than faded, its been a large swing. Why have you lost women in that way, Brennan chided.
So, women are issue voters. We know this, Margaret. We're not monolithic, McDaniel shot back in part. Were over 50 percent of the electorate. Were not single-issue voters. But we're making decisions based on our lives, and every issue impacts us. But I do think one of the overwhelming issues were seeing thats bringing them back in the suburbs is law and order.
Towards the end of the program, when CBSs election night crew gathered to discuss what could happen in the horse race, Brennans proclamations of the unenthusiastic Trump supporter got sunk by CBS colleague Norah ODonnell.
As political correspondent Ed OKeefe was telling viewers about how a new poll out of Iowa shows that Joni Ernst is actually in the lead after weeks of polling suggested that her Democratic opponent, Theresa Greenfield pulled ahead, ODonnell interjected by noting it showed enthusiasm for Trump was growing.
That Iowa poll suggests, in fact, that the shy Trump voter is emerging, she declared.
Not only did it signal general enthusiasm going up, according to ODonnell, but he was gaining in some of the demographics Brennan had hyped him losing. That independents are going back towards Donald Trump, she said. That actually some women are returning to the Republican fold who were there in 2016, and may not have been able to say it publicly in a poll or to their friends, that that has come back.
And it wasnt just ODonnell, CBS This Morning co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King seemed to agree that a message was being sent by Trumps supporters.
Joe Biden couldnt fill an air raid shelter if the sirens were going off!
She knows, and is deliberately lying. Trying to establish a false narrative in the minds of some voters who she thinks are stupid enough to be that suggestible.
Biden has tens of people at his rallies; Trump has tens of thousands at his, and she claims there’s no enthusiasm about Trump.
Oh, I see. In her little circle of friends everyone thinks alike.
Same here. Voted early in person R all the way down the ballot.
If you vote in person (early or on Election Day) and put the correctly filled-out ballot in the machine yourself, it will be counted as you directed, unless things go more haywire than have ever happened in the USA.
If you mail in your ballot, all sorts of things might happen to it, as we’ve found out in the news! And in some cases, not-so-brigth people have been directed to fill out their ballot in a certain way, as we’ve also found out in the news.
If they news has caught some of these shenanigans, hopefully the vast majority of ballot misdirections will be caught on Election Day and the days after, and/or the courts will backstop any vote fraud. Lord have Mercy!!!!
“There may be many more like me.”
There are many more “independents” like you. I know several people, particularly those who work for state and local government, who fear repercussions if they identify as conservatives or register as Republicans. They studiously avoid talking politics in public.
LOL- i just got back from a Trump Train Rally in very liberal Westchester County, NY. It was pouring rain and there were 4000 to 5000 people at the rally.

Your post reminded me of the late 1990’s. Jesse Ventura was running for Governor of MN. Jesse would show up to a town at 11:30pm on a Sunday night and a few thousand people would be waiting for him.
Jesse shocked the State when he won. I wasn’t so shocked, noting the crowds and the enthusiasm for him. The press sure was baffled.
