Rush site hacked?
Rush Limbaugh web site ^ | not | me

Posted on 10/30/2020 12:23:01 PM PDT by Mark

I tried to go to audio, etc links from home page and got this:

blm, acab, fuck 12. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

If the system breaks down the consequences will still be very painful. But the bigger the system grows the more disastrous the results of its breakdown will be, so if it is to break down it had best break down sooner rather than later.

We therefore advocate a revolution against the industrial system. This revolution may or may not make use of violence; it may be sudden or it may be a relatively gradual process spanning a few decades. We can't predict any of that. But we do outline in a very general way the measures that those who hate the industrial system should take in order to prepare the way for a revolution against that form of society. This is not to be a POLITICAL revolution. Its object will be to overthrow not governments but the economic and technological basis of the present society

Then photos Unibomber, etc

It’s not that hard to do if you are in direct contact with your host, or you are the host. Pull the plug on the server(s) or change your DNS records temporarily to point to a different host/server, then wipe out your servers and restore a recently archived version, and find the vulnerability before you go live again.

Actually, it is hard to do. It’s a P.I.T.Arse, but it’s better to be down than to appear hacked for a long period of time.

That was in the back of my mind. I put nothing past the Left at this stage in the game.

It was a complete stop of the program, followed by a rerun of the day when PDJT had the program for a full day. This answers my question of what happened. I’ve been listening since about 1990 and this is the first time anything like this ever happened.

No expertise on that but if it were me I would do that.

However if the purpose was to steal customer info I doubt they would not have made it so obvious they had hacked in. Rather .. this looks like they just wanted to punk his site.

Not an inside job, but could have been from a bad security setting, an unpatched vulnerability, or a Distributed Denial of Service attack.

I looked at the source code for the home page, looks like some cache service serves up the page.

When I clicked on the link in the post above, it went to Rush’s webpage. When I typed rushlimbaugh.com into the URL space, it went to the hacked page. Weird.

If you ping your favorite sites and record the IP addresses, then hacks or other failures of the DNS servers won’t affect you.

Seriously, if you use your FR password anywhere else, you probably should change it and use a unique password for each site.

I should probably change mine, since it’s an old password that I used commonly many years ago.

But I’m not terribly worried about someone stealing my FR login and posting gobbledygook with my username.

My economically valuable passwords are much more complex these days, though.
