With Nov. 3 racing toward us, it can be tempting to see the 2020 election as a done deal. For months, Joe Biden has consistently and convincingly led Donald Trump in polls. Swing states in the industrial Midwest and Sun Belt appear to be heading Bidens way, and if you trust the polls, its not a leap to imagine him winning 330+ electoral votes.
But what if you shouldnt trust the polls?
In 2016, months of national polls confidently showed Hillary Clinton ahead, and set many Americans up for a shock on Election Night, when the Electoral College tilted decisively in Trumps favor. Two pollsters who werent blindsided by this are Arie Kapteyn and Robert Cahaly.(snip)
This year, both men believe that polls could again be undercounting Trumps support. The reason is shy Trump voterspeople reluctant to share their opinions for fear of being judged.(snip)
We live in a country where people will lie to their accountant, theyll lie to their doctor, theyll lie to their priest, says Cahaly. And were supposed to believe they shed all of that when they get on the telephone with a stranger?
This year, conventional pollsters say theyve learned their lessons, and are accounting for factors that skewed their results last year. Kapteyn and Cahaly arent so sure, as they explained to POLITICO this week via Zoom. A transcript of that conversation is below, condensed and edited for length and clarity.

Only Democrats will be shocked.
Too stupid not to require silencing.
We arent shy, we are just busy earning a living!
Trump voters are not shy. They realize that leftists are vindictive bastards who punish anyone who doesnt sing the communist party line like a retarded parrot. I myself have recently registered as an independent because I do not want to lose business from my fortune 500 clients. Rest assured, I voted straight ticket Republican two days ago in Maricopa County (Phoenix), AZ.
A clear Trump victory should start a national conversation about retiring daily coverage of polls. Indeedy, polls aren’t “news” in any way.
They will be surprised especially the games they are trying to play. It will enrage the shy voters and independents. MAGA2020
Trump voters are not angry.
They know most pollsters are the enemy who would not hesitate to doxx them at any time.
I would not talk to a pollster if they took me prisoner and tortured me.
That has nothing to do with being “shy”. :-)
Politico is starting to back track ..
Correction—Trump voters are not “shy”.
Clown. Try putting a Trump sign in my blue neighborhood and it means threat of violence or vandalism of my property.
I dont talk to pollsters either. I dont know what they are missing but I think they are not capturing what is going on. We will see in a few days. Hillary knew she was in trouble in the early evening. I will look for the same signs. Trump has a tougher hill to climb.
Take a look at the poor Drudge Report . . . .it’s gone stark raving mad with bad news as it relates to the conservatives.
Ditto here in North Carolina. I do projects for Big Banks. It doesn’t make sense for me to run the risk. So I’m registered Independent. No bumper stickers, flags, signs, and I never discuss politics at work.....and I vote straight ticket Republican.
Fake numbers are not a “tougher hill to climb”.
Check out this video—basic training on how early voting has already proven the polls wrong:

If someone tells you it is a hundred miles from the end of your driveway to your house is that a “tough hill to climb”?
Nope—cause they are _lying_!
I’m personally “shy”, nor afraid. I just despise the media so much that cooperating with them in any respect would sicken me.
And don’t forget that Hillary is drinking so much Chardonnay is because she wants to do her part in Making American Grape Again.
Rush said this would start happening about Thursday ... today !
We are not shy
We really don’t want yet to make a choice of defending our home or going to prison.
The time may come...and I have already called “dibs” on the cell across the hall from Michelle Malkin
Publicly, it doesn't matter what is going on. They are going to push numbers that may not even exist except in their own minds. I'm convinced they could take an honest polls and lie about what they captured.
