Number spoofing is quite common as I recently found out. My gastro doc’s office had a fouled up phone system, so his PA was using her personal cell...tried a call back thinking it was the PA and got “number not in service”.

I’ve used www.youmail.com for years. Works great. It intercepts the call and creates an email sent to my inbox. Any message shows up as text. It also warns you of possible scams.

The IRS NEVER NEVER NEVER calls anyone—company or person.

They will paper your bathroom with letters, but they NEVER CALL.

Because they are. Or more precisely they’re east Indian. It’s a major racket. I get them all the time. They also pull phony Social Security scams and selling medications too. I curse the hell out of them with language that would make the Marine Corps blush and then it stops. For a while anyway.

If you Google the number of the caller it will come up on a big list of phone numbers listed as being scams.
