A new survey conducted by Whitman Insight Strategies and MRC Data in partnership with DISQO measured the intersection of entertainment, influence and politics among 1,103 likely voters.
The votes are in, and Tom Hanks, Dwayne Johnson, Oprah Winfrey and LeBron James have the most trusted opinions on political and social issues, according to a new survey of American voters. NBA star James was also cited for doing the most to raise awareness and motivation around voting in the general population and among Gen Z voters, and for having the most trusted opinions among Black voters.
Conducted by Whitman Insight Strategies and MRC Data in partnership with DISQO, the survey polled 1,103 likely voters (48 percent male; 52 percent female) across the United States from Oct. 8-13 to examine the intersections of entertainment, influence and politics ahead of the Nov. 3 election. MRC Data is a division of MRC, part owner of The Hollywood Reporter.
Celebrity influence has long been assessed to determine the impact stars have using their platforms to shed light on issues or persuade the public one way or another. The new study arrives at a divisive time in the United States both culturally and politically as elected leaders grapple with a viral pandemic and calls for racial and social justice against the backdrop of a heated election cycle. It also comes amid widespread if not unprecedented get-out-the-vote initiatives by celebrities. Whitman and MRC Data Researchers asked voters to specify whose opinion they trusted most, as well as name the issues they wanted celebrities to address, such as COVID-19, racial justice, healthcare, climate change, womens rights, income equality and LGBTQ equality.

Yo, Study, how much more will LeBron pay under Biden’s tax plan?
lebrainless couldn't even get the rest of the league to sustain the "boycott".
Exactly. Celebrities have no influence on HOW someone will vote.
They had a “study” to determine the most trusted CELEBRITY?
Where does one even begin?
Thats like saying the MVP of the bathroom is the toilet plunger.
Is that why NBA revenue is down by 40%?
Le Juan? ROFL MAO! Go sign some autographs for the cardboard cutout fans, Le Juan. The only thing keeping any eyeballs on sports is the legal gambling attached to the “games”. Sports is waaay downstream from survival. Bring back the shooting sports to your family...and I’m not talking 3-pointers here.
What? No Willy Wonka?
I heard that Guy Lombardo was really big in “The Villages”.
I seem to recall an article years back on the FR that showed that celebrity support for politicians usually loses them votes.
Exactly. Ratings tanked when LeBron was in the finals.
This says much more about the stupidity of the ‘influenced’ than it does about the intellect of the “influencers”.
OOPS! Le Yuan.
Hey LeBrainless, just remember, Republicans vote on November 3 and democrats vote on November 4.
God help us all!
MVP Destabilizer: George Soros
MVP Depopulator: Bill Gates
TOO BIG TO TALK ABOUT. Investigate? By who? Pffft.
