It may require a brand new PC.
Linux is a mixed bag. Linux CAN be more secure than Windows 10 and many banks us Linux for their servers. Alot depends on the specific implementation. Some vendors do not support Linux especially if there is a client side required component. However, browser based implementations will generally support a modern Linux version with a modern browser.
I personally use Linux Mint as my home PC. Note that there is an security module that can improve the security of Linux in general. However, it does require some reading and understanding of security controls.

You are accessing your bank accounts on a Windows 7 machine??? Are you tired of having money?
That’s quite reasonable. Who wants to support old buggy insecure browsers?
Here’s an old joke:
Q: Why do they call me Windows 7?
A: Because I’m always crashing at your moms house.
:-)
What browser are you using - if it is IE, expect the problem to spread. Microsoft is trying to force everyone to use the Edge spyware instead. That would be a Microsoft issue, not a TD issue.
Try downloading Brave and see if it works. Chrome will generally work, but then you are giving your information to Google rather than Microsoft, so you haven’t really gained anything. Firefox would be my next choice, but if you lock it down, you begin to lose functionaly. You can put a lot of effort into Firefox trying to find the perfect balance between privacy and functionality.
Same here. After Microsoft promised no more updates to my Win7 system.
Did not hear on the news yesterday that TD Ameritrade was bought out by Charles Schwab? Perhaps it has to do with transition.

I can think of 2 possible solutions that include you can remain on win7.
#1
Use Firefox and install the “User Agent Switcher”
You can try to have Firefox tell TD that your browser is something else.
#2
You could run Linux as a ‘virtual machine’ and run a newer browser in the virtual box. It may even be possible to run win10 from within a win7 virtual machine (will need LOTS of memory and disk space to even try win10 this way)
To do that you need something like “Virtual Box”, “Qemu”, etc...
Edge is crap too. I hate it.
I have never tried linux to log into my bank. It is probably the banks prerogative to support linux or not.
We use a win10 pc for our banking.
I use Linux mostly facing the Internet.
The W10 not so much.
Got windoz illness. take two aspirin and get a mac in the morning
Windows 7 stopped being updated months ago, so it is highly vulnerable to any new virus attacks. I’m not sure I’d want to use a possibly virus-prone system to access my bank account.
it’s not the system they’re rejecting, but the browser itself ... lots of sites are doing this now ...
solution is easy: install latest chrome, firefox or other modern browser .... windows 7 is still fantastically great as ever!
Tried both, doesn’t work.
Some people need to stick with Win7 because of some software or peripherals that Win10 hates.
“Hmm. Looks like your browser’s a bit out of date.
For a better online banking experience and full site functionality, please download the latest version of your favorite internet browser.”
This message is wrong, if the problem is Win7, TD not supporting it anymore, they could tell customers that Win7 is not supported.
Spent 2 hours on the phone, I tried 4 browsers, all latest versions, even after downloading latest, same message.
The point is, TD is saying browsers are out of date, when there is nothing wrong with browsers.
They could say: “Hey Neanderthal, your Win 7 might not support our latest whizzbang software update.”
I can access TD from my Win10 Source or Galaxy9 phone. No problem with Chase access, they allow oldies to bank.
Updates for Win7 stopped years ago. As such, so did the security updates for IE.
Due to vulnerabilities, the order security algorithms found in Win7 are no longer supported by todays websites/servers.
You can download Chrome and go with that.
Edge is now built on Chrome and is much better than before.
